Hiring a chef in a country that is not yours

You have taken a house somewhere you do not live, for a week or two, and you would rather eat well than cook or book a restaurant every night. Everyone understands that part. The awkward part is what comes next: finding someone to cook, in a place where you do not know the market, may not speak the language, cannot check a reference, and are being asked to pay a stranger in advance.

That is the problem we exist to remove. One conversation, one point of contact, and a chef who already works where you are staying. Not someone flown in for the week who is learning the local suppliers at your expense, but someone who knows which fish came in that morning and which of the two kitchens in your villa actually works.

It also means that if you take a house in Mykonos this summer and a chalet in Courchevel at New Year, you are not starting the search again. Same team, same standard, different mountain.

What a private chef service includes

Your chef plans the menus around what you actually eat, does the shopping, cooks in your kitchen and leaves it as it was found. Ingredients are billed separately at what they cost, with receipts, rather than hidden inside a per-head price that nobody can check.

You can book a single dinner, or a chef for the whole stay. Half Time covers two meals a day with up to ten working hours; Full Time covers breakfast, lunch and dinner with up to thirteen, shopping time included in both. Butlers, bartenders and additional staff are arranged when a house needs more than a kitchen.

What is quoted separately, so there are no surprises: travel beyond the areas we list for a destination, extra staff, and unusually long hours. The full price is confirmed in writing before anything is booked.

Seventeen destinations, and not one more

We list seventeen places and cook in seventeen places. That is a deliberate limit rather than a stage of growth: a chef who does not know a destination is worth less than no chef at all, and a directory that claims to cover everywhere is usually covering nowhere.

The seventeen come with their surroundings. The Courchevel team reaches the rest of the Three Valleys; the Ibiza team crosses to Formentera; the teams on the Cote d Azur work the coast either side of Monaco and Saint-Tropez.
